IMPORTANCE OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE IN BANK PO INTERVIEW
It is generally believed that usage of the English language during Bank PO interviews gives the candidate an advantage over the ones who don’t.
Let’s try to figure out the truth in this general belief.
There are dozens of languages and dialects spoken across the country. As a Bank officer, you can be posted anywhere in the country and you may get a chance to work with colleagues who speak different languages. Therefore, to work effectively you will have to know the regional and English languages. Also, English along with Hindi act as link languages in our country, and most of the official work in the banks is done in English.
Every language has two aspects:
- Speak
- Read & Write
The skill to read and write in the English language is given special importance in the line of work of Bank officers, but the ability to have a fluent conversation in English is a desirable skill and not a necessity.
During the interview, it’s more important to communicate effectively and clearly. If you’re stuck in the process of proving your language prowess, you may miss the opportunity to express yourself. Therefore, pay more attention to your communication than the language. It’s your personality that’s going to impress the interviewers and not the ability to speak a particular language. Remember, the English language is just a tool.

बैंक पी. ओ. के इंटरव्यू में अंग्रेजी भाषा का महत्व
ऐसी एक बहुत प्रचलित धारणा है की अंग्रेजी भाषा में बैंक पी. ओ. का इंटरव्यू देने से आपके चयनित होने के अवसर बढ़ जाते हैं |
इस धारणा में कितनी सच्चाई है, इसको समझने की कोशिश करते हैं |
हमारे देश में दर्जनों भाषाएँ और उपभाषाएँ बोली जाती हैं | एक बैंक अधिकारी के रूप में आप देश के किसी भी हिस्से में पदस्थापित किये जा सकते हैं और आपके साथ काम करने वाले साथी भी विभिन्न भाषाएँ बोलने वाले हो सकते हैं, इसलिए सुचारू रूप से काम करने के लिए आपको क्षेत्रीय भाषा के अलावा अंग्रेजी भाषा जानना जरूरी हो जाता है | हिंदी और अंग्रेजी पूरे देश में एक लिंक लैंग्वेज की तरह इस्तेमाल होता है और अंग्रेजी भाषा में ही ज्यदातर आधिकारिक कार्यों को अंजाम दिया जाता है, इसलिए अंग्रेजी भाषा की समझ बहुत ज़रूरी हो जाती है | इसका महत्व आप इस बात से भी समझ सकते हैं की अंग्रेजी भाषा आपके प्री और मेन एग्जाम का हिस्सा होता है, जिसमे उत्तीर्ण होना अव्यश्यक है |
हर भाषा की जानकारी के दो पहलु होते हैं :-
- बोल पाना
- लिख और पढ़ पाना
बैंक अधिकारी के काम में अंग्रेजी भाषा को लिख और पढ़ पाने की कौशल को ख़ास महत्व दिया जाता है, लेकिन अंग्रेजी भाषा सहजता और अच्छे से बोल पाना एक अतिरिक्त कौशल है जो वांछित (desirable) है लेकिन अनिवार्य (compulsory) नहीं |
इंटरव्यू के दौरान आपके लिए ये ज़रूरी है की आप अपने विचारों को स्पष्ट रूप से व्यक्त कर पाएं | अगर भाषा के फेर में आप खुद के विचारों को व्यक्त ही नहीं कर पाते हैं, तो चयन होने से रहा | इसलिए भाषा से ज्यादा ध्यान अपने संवाद पर दें और कोशिश करें की अपने विचार हु-बहु इंटरव्यू लेने वाले तक पहुंचाए |
आपका व्यक्तित्व आपके इंटरव्यू लेने वालों को प्रभावित करेगा, कोई ख़ास भाषा बोल पाने का कौशल नहीं | अंग्रेजी भाषा सिर्फ एक टूल है, व्यक्तित्व नहीं |
